The Times NIE Inter-School Bowling Competition Season 2, held in association with Phoenix Marketcity and PUNO, successfully promoted team spirit and sportsmanship among students. Six students from Army Public School (APS) participated in the event, showcasing their skills in a series of competitive rounds. Their teamwork and determination were rewarded as the APS team secured the 3rd position, earning recognition and bringing pride to their school.

On the occasion of World Literacy Day, students at Army Public School Dighi celebrated the event with a special focus on poetry recitation as part of the Co-Curricular Activities (CCA). The themes for the recitations were Environment, Cleanliness, and Gender Equality, highlighting the importance of these critical issues in today’s world.

Students from various grades participated, using their poetic talent to convey meaningful messages on environmental preservation, the significance of maintaining cleanliness in communities, and the need for gender equality in society. Each poem reflected thoughtful insights, inspiring both students and teachers to reflect on these important subjects. The event concluded with a heartfelt appreciation from the teachers for the participants, encouraging everyone to practice the values promoted through the recitations.

The school celebrated Teacher’s Day to honor the beloved educators’ incredible dedication and efforts. The day was filled with joy, fun, and heartfelt expressions

of appreciation. The day took off with a special assembly by Gurnam House

where students shared inspiring quotes about teachers, followed by a soulful

speech highlighting the impact that teachers have on shaping futures. Our

student council presented a lovely tribute through a cultural program, which

included dances, songs, playing of musical instruments, etc. Students also

presented handmade cards and small tokens of appreciation to their teachers,

along with a special message for them.

EVENT: Financial Literacy Awareness Workshop

A Financial Literacy Awareness Workshop was held on September 6, 2024, by representatives from the School of Commerce, Finance, and Accountancy, Christ University, Pune, Lavasa. The workshop was for students of classes X, XI, and XII. Our students learned practical skills to build financial independence, avoid common financial pitfalls, and plan for the future. With interactive sessions and expert guidance, the workshop aimed to empower

participants to make informed financial decisions and set achievable financial goals.

The celebration of Sanskrit Day at Army Public School Dighi was marked by a special assembly that honored the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of Sanskrit. The assembly began with a Sanskrit shloka, setting a spiritual and scholarly tone for the event. Students showcased their proficiency in the language through recitations of Sanskrit verses, highlighting its significance in Indian tradition and literature.

A thought-provoking speech on the importance of Sanskrit in modern times emphasized how this ancient language continues to influence many areas of life, from philosophy to science. Students also participated in a short skit and delivered presentations, reflecting on the historical value and continued relevance of Sanskrit. The assembly concluded with a pledge in Sanskrit, followed by the principal’s address, which encouraged students to continue learning and appreciating the language. The program instilled a deeper appreciation for India’s linguistic heritage among the audience.

Army Public School Dighi observed the  Swachhata Pakhwada with a series of impactful activities throughout the month of  September. The series of events began with students and staff taking a collective oath to uphold cleanliness and conserve water. Following this, a vibrant banner march was organized, with participants parading through the school grounds, carrying banners promoting hygiene and water conservation. Cleanliness drive under the Puneet Sagar program was also undertaken at the Gurnaam lake by NCC cadets . Appropriate handwashing techniques were taught during the school assembly. Various awareness sessions were conducted at the school level. The event concluded with engaging interactions with local residents, where students shared insights and practical tips on maintaining cleanliness and saving water. The initiative successfully fostered a strong sense of responsibility and community spirit.

As we near the examination season, a Bagless Day was conducted on the 13th of

September to help take the stress off students’ minds. What better way to start

the day than by keeping in touch with our roots! The Hindi Diwas Assembly was

truly brilliant, and the activities for this Bagless Day were designed to help

students connect with their subjects through interactive learning. Few of the

activities undertaken by various classes were – Flipped Classroom, Quiz Time,

Sanskrit brainstorming sessions etc. by class 6; where they prepared questions

to test each other’s knowledge. The 7th and 8th graders brought out their inner

actors with a lively Role Play, Mathematical Carnival Booths etc. Grade 8

conducted demonstrations of experiments and created mind maps they also

practiced collaboration as they synthesized information related to Indian

monuments. Friday’s CCA activity was a fun-filled Hindi Hasya Kavita writing and recitation competition, where students wowed their classmates with witty and

humorous poems.

The Hindi Diwas assembly at Army Public School Dighi was a vibrant celebration of the national language. The program commenced with a prayer followed by a thought of the day and a word in Hindi to promote language learning. Students recited Hindi poetry, and a short speech was delivered to highlight the significance of Hindi in unifying the nation. A Naatak (play) was also performed, reflecting on the beauty and cultural richness of the language. The event concluded with the national anthem, instilling pride in India’s linguistic diversity.

The event began with a Ganesh Vandana prayer, setting a serene tone. This was followed by the distribution of books and stationery to students, enhancing their educational resources. Students then participated in a creative drawing session, depicting Lord Ganesha, which fostered artistic expression. The day concluded with lively sports activities, including races and team games, promoting physical fitness and teamwork. Overall, the Vidyanjali activity was a joyful blend of spirituality, creativity, and sportsmanship, enriching the students’ educational and personal development.

Under the visionary leadership and guidance of Principal Kavita Kadam, APS Dighi hosted a grand Felicitation Ceremony to honor the toppers of Std X and XII, along with their dedicated teachers. Brig Dileep Ganesh Patwardhan, Commandant Bombay Engineer Group and Centre, Chairman of the school graced the occasion as the Chief Guest along with the other esteemed dignitaries who added to the significance of the event.

The top-performing students were awarded certificates of excellence and cash awards, recognizing their hard work and dedication. In a special segment, the teachers who played a key role in the students’ success were also felicitated with certificates, mementos, and cheques as a token of appreciation. Chief Guest in his inspiring address, applauded the toppers for their exceptional achievements and emphasized the importance of perseverance, discipline, and consistent hard work. He also praised the teachers and the parents for their constant support and guidance, noting their pivotal role in shaping the future of the students.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the school, parents, and teaching staff. The ceremony was a true celebration of academic excellence and the collective efforts behind it.

The CBSE Cluster IX Athletics Meet 2024-25, held from 4th to 8th September 2024, was a grand sporting event hosted by Sanjay Ghodawat International School, Kolhapur.

Army Public School Dighi made a remarkable mark in the meet, securing the 2nd Runner-Up position in the General Championship. The athletes delivered stellar

performances across multiple categories, with several qualifying for the nationals.

The Under-14 Girls Badminton Team of Army Public School, Dighi, has proudly secured the Silver medal in the prestigious CBSE Cluster IX Badminton Championships 2024. The event was hosted by All Saints High School, Kalyan, Mumbai, and saw participation from numerous schools across Maharashtra and Goa.

The team, consisting of:

EVENT: NIE QUIZOMANIA

DETAILS:

The NIE QUIZOMANIA, was organized by Times of India, on 24th Sept 2024. The event was held at Balgandharva Rangamandir. It was hosted by quizmaster Gaston D’Souza, who quizzed participants on a wide range of subjects, including General Knowledge, Science, Literature, Current Affairs and History. The contest featured several challenging rounds, that kept the audience on the edge of their seats. The APS Dighi team qualified amongst 50 plus schools of Pune and secured 4th position in the grand finale. Each of the three participants was given a certificate and smart watches worth Rs 6000/- each.  The winner participants are as follows:

EVENT: South Zone II CBSE Shooting Competition 2024

DETAILS:

The South Zone II CBSE Shooting Competition 2024 which was held at Chenkal (Kerala) lasted for five days. The events commenced with the Inaugural Ceremony on 25th September 2024 inaugurated by Sri G R Anil, Minister for Food & Civil Supplies. Around 819 participants from Kerala, Maharashtra, and Bangalore were registered for the events. The team included

who participated in the U-17 category. Rishikesh Kadam was part of the Air Pistol Shooting Competition and has been selected for Nationals.

Two students from Army Public School Dighi, Vaibhav Khade of Class 12 (Science) and Narendra Tekale of Class 8, achieved remarkable success at the CBSE South Zone – II Boxing Championships 2024. Vaibhav secured a gold medal, while Narendra earned a silver medal. Both students have qualified for the upcoming CBSE Nationals competition, scheduled to be held in Haryana from 17th to 20th October 2024. This achievement highlights their dedication and the school’s commitment to promoting sports excellence.
